Barcelona Set to Play First Match at Upgraded Camp Nou this Saturday
The club confirmed they are set to host at the still-under-construction Camp Nou on Saturday. Athletic Bilbao will visit the Basque side in domestic competition over two years following their departure for construction to commence.
“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
The stadium will not be at full capacity with 45,401 fans will be allowed to watch under the licence granted. When completed, the stadium’s capacity will reach almost 105,000 spectators, up from the previous 99,000. Barça announced finished work included a renovated tunnel for players and new dressing rooms.
Recent Activities
Barça organized an open training session on the home pitch on 7 November. The club said they were hoping for permission by UEFA to host the next European match facing Eintracht on 9 December in the renovated venue. They have been hosting matches at Estadio OlĂmpic LluĂs Companys.
