Hulu is Developing a Popular Game TV Show from the Creators of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.

The most recent action-packed instalment that gamers experienced was Far Cry 6, which featured Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the villain, Antón, and debuted during October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it has a reputation for delighting in action and mayhem with equal enthusiasm, all while telling engaging, politically driven tales. It’s no surprise that the network’s new order for a Far Cry anthology series pulled in two producers whose work have exemplified all of those elements.

Show Details

Inspired by Ubisoft's successful video game property, the short-run anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The show will also follow the video games' structure by having a different setting and cast of characters in subsequent series.

Executive Team

Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as showrunners on the series via their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

“FX has had excellent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are working together for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is fresh, engrossing, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our collaborators at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this beloved property.”

Cast and Future Plans

Mac will also star in the show, but as of now, we do not know what role that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently renewed for more episodes, with FX and Disney finalizing a new comprehensive agreement with the creator.

“Being able to collaborate together with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally accommodating, trusting us with one of the most iconic video-game worlds ever created. And through it all, my FX partners always encourages me with their steady confidence and support.”

“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology-style show. Every title is a take of a concept, the same way every run of Fargo is a variation on a theme,” said Hawley. “To develop a big action show that can change from year to year, while always exploring the nature of humanity through this intricate and chaotic perspective, is a long-held aspiration. I’m thrilled to work with Rob and present our mutual unconventional, daring style to the television.”

A time frame for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
