Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Claims Involving Player the Athlete

The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night stating they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of player Rashee Rice and were in contact with the NFL.

The team did not mention the player by name in their statement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Instagram

The woman, who also did not mention the athlete directly, posted a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Reportedly Unavailable

No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.

Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles

The receiver was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals injured. Rice was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a ten-year span.
