The Division Makes Its Way to the Tabletop as a Deeply Strategic TTRPG
The gritty world of Tom Clancy’s The Division is being adapted into a tabletop role-playing experience. A partnership was established to create a tabletop RPG that explores the series' apocalyptic landscape. The project was revealed, with a funding drive scheduled to launch in April of 2026.
"This project aims to deliver the series' unique suspense, tactical intensity, and memorable setting to the table, offering fans a new way to engage with The Division through immersive storytelling and player-driven missions," states an announcement.
Launch products are set to feature a starter set, core rulebooks, a GM screen, figurines, and several premium versions.
Delving Into The Division's Apocalyptic World
In this setting, a lethal pathogen known as Green Poison was released in NYC, sending the nation into chaos. As the crisis escalates, society crumbles and hostile groups rise, transforming the urban landscape into a battlefield. To restore order, the authorities {activate|deploy] The Division, a covert network of sleeper agents. This is where the agents come in.
Development on the RPG has been in progress for approximately three years, and it is confirmed to be finished. The upcoming Kickstarter campaign will serve as a preorder system to access a wider audience, specifically in the United States. Production will start right after the fundraiser, with shipping projected for the latter part of 2026.
A Streamlined Gameplay Mechanic: The GRIS System
A preview at the game's rules reveals it uses 10-sided dice exclusively through its new GRIS system, promoting a fast-paced and strategic approach. Players leverage skills or traits to roll a handful of dice, usually from one to five d10s.
- Instead of summing the total, participants select a single “resolution die” from the pool.
- This die is then compared against a target difficulty.
- Rolling a natural 10 triggers special effects, such as increased harm or boosted support.
Combat Emphasize Tactical Placement and Situational Insight
Battles stress positioning and situational awareness, mirroring the video games. Elements like taking cover, height advantage, or line of sight directly influence success chances. This mechanic is designed to favor teamwork and smart positioning over simple statistics.
A Thematic Wound System
The way health is tracked adds a compelling narrative layer. Agents have a injury limit; taking heavy hits weakens their effectiveness by lowering the size of their dice pool.
- At zero health, an agent is downed, but they’re not unconscious.
- They can still move and perform restricted acts, simulating the last stand common to video game shooters.
- Any agent knocked down must consult a trauma table, potentially gaining lingering conditions like shock or mobility-impairing wounds.
A Ready-to-Play Adventure
A free Quickstart Guide is promised soon. It contains a ready-to-play starting adventure called Ashes of Murray Hill. In this mission, players spearhead the search for a lost doctor squad and must thwart an assault by the violent Rikers faction, who have taken over that Manhattan district. Further information and the complete product lineup will be unveiled closer to the Kickstarter start date.
